Dear Members of the Class of 2008,
Congratulations on your approaching graduation! Kentucky Wesleyan College is looking forward to honoring your achievement with commencement and other celebratory activities. Please plan to join us for the following events:
Feb 19 – Mar 31 Place your order for cap and gown at the bookstore. The cap and gown will be yours to
keep; please include your height and weight with your order. The cost is $26.50.
April 14 Tickets for the Farewell Breakfast, held on Saturday, May 10, at 7:45 a.m. become available
in the Student Life Office. Reservations are required and graduates may obtain up to
three tickets for $1 each (this includes one for the graduate and two others). Additional
tickets are $5.00 each.
April 14 Caps and gowns will be available to pick up at the bookstore.
May 8 The senior dinner will be held at the Owensboro Country Club at 6:30 p.m. Invitations will be issued from
the Alumni Office. Call Joyce Ann Evans at 270-852-3141 with your questions.
May 9 Rehearsal for ALL GRADUATES will be at 1 p.m. in the Woodward Health and Recreation Center.
Commencement exercises will be outside (in the Hocker-Hall Grove) unless inclement weather prevails.
May 9 Baccalaureate Service and Leadership Program recognition will be at 5 p.m. in Tapscott Chapel.
May 10 The faculty-sponsored Farewell Breakfast and Honor Cord ceremony for graduates and
their families will be at 7:45 a.m. in the Hocker Family Dinning Center. The Faculty
Chorale will provide entertainment.
May 10 The Processional Assembly begins at 9:15 a.m. in the HRC.
May 10 Commencement exercises begin at 10 a.m.
Seniors who have family members with special needs should contact the Student Life Office to make arrangements for their accommodations during the commencement exercise.
We hope you will attend these activities. If for any reason you are unable to attend commencement, you should IMMEDIATELY write to Dr. M. Michael Fagan, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3000 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301-1039. In your letter, please state the reason for your absence and request your degree in absentia.
Please make any necessary hotel arrangements soon. The Barbecue Festival is the same weekend and Owensboro is quite crowded at this time of year. When making a reservation be sure to check if that hotel offers a KWC discount.
